VentorLux Partnership with Cook County Hospital

In September 2019, after 4 ½ years in development, the VentorLux team was ready to test their flagship product, the Soulis 8400. Through research and discussion, two pathogens, E.coli and Penicillium brevicompactum – both responbible for many Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) – were selected for the first secure lab testing. Assured Bio Labs, an AIHA accredited, CDC Elite Lab, out of Oakridge, Tennessee perfomed the testing.

Results were superior, so superior that the lab re-tested the machines to ensure accuracy as related to the quick ‘kill’rate.

According to Assured Bio Labs, no other system uses Ventorlux’s unquie approach. An early evaluator stated, ‘the Soulis™ is a true game-changer, there is nothing like it in the market.’

After testing, VentorLux established a relationship with Cook County Health System in Chicago, a healthcare system dedicted to ensuring the safety of both staff and patients. It was during this period the Covid-19 pandemic began. The VentorLux team, along with Dr. Richard Sumter, moved swiftly to develop a plan together, targeting an expanded list of testing for the VentorLux Soulis™.

The goal of the second round of testing was threefold,

  1. Determine the exent to which the Soulis System reduces common Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) pathogens.
  2. Establish baseline room circulation metrics and efficacy rexults for smaller base evaluations models, Soulis 3600™ and Soulis™ 1200 for potential use in patient rooms.
  3. Document the safety and efficiency of the Soulis System against controlled contagions in a controlled representative environment at Assured Bio Labs, specifically:

a. The Virus SARS-CoV-2, one of the seven types of coronavirus, specifically the one that causes Covid-19 and is related to the one’s that cause Middle East respiratory syndrom (MERS) and sudden acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)

b. Clostridioides difficile (C.diff), a gram positive, anaerobic, and a spore. C.diff is a common bacterium of the human intestine in 2%-5% of the population, which causes a serious gastrointestinal infection when individuals are exposed to antibotic therapy, and/or have experienced a long-term hospitalization or long-term care facility.

c. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus (MRSA), a bacterium that causes infection which is difficult to treat due to it’s resistance to commonly used antibiotics and cephalosporins.

d. A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses that are the current causes of seasonal influenza in the United States. The CDC estimates that from 2009-2018, influenza A H1N1pdm09 has cuased 100.5million illnesses, 936,000 hospitalizations and 75,000 deaths.

e. Klebsiella pneumoniae(vii), a gram negative, encapsulated, non-mobile bacterium that is associated with pneumonia in patient populations with diabetes and alcohol use disorder.

June 2020 testing results proved superior, and Cook County Heath Systems began to adopt Soulis™ solutions into various parts of the hospital system.
